Honest Prayers for Moms Who Feel Burnt Out
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
— Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
Devotional Thought:
Motherhood is beautiful — but let’s be honest: it can also be exhausting.
There are days when the dishes never end, the laundry seems like a mountain, the kids are fighting again, and you can’t remember the last time you had five minutes to yourself. Maybe today is one of those days.
You might feel like you're running on empty, holding everything together with duct tape and prayer. And that’s okay — because God isn't looking for perfection. He's just looking for you.
You don’t have to come to Him with polished words or tidy emotions. When you're overwhelmed, your most powerful prayers might simply be:
“Lord, I’m tired. Help me.”
And the beautiful truth? He hears that.
He sees the late nights, the tears you hide in the bathroom, the strength it takes to show up every day. God never meant for you to carry it all alone. He is the God who gives rest — real, soul-deep rest — to weary hearts.
So, mama, it’s okay to be honest. Let your prayers be raw and real. Bring the burnout, the frustration, the guilt, the questions — bring all of it. God isn’t intimidated by your weariness. He meets you in it.
Honest Prayer:
God,
I’m exhausted. I feel like I’m giving everything I have, and it still doesn’t feel like enough. I love my family, but sometimes I just want to run and hide. I need rest — not just sleep, but rest in my soul. Help me release the pressure I put on myself. Remind me that I’m not failing. You see me. You love me. And You are with me, even in the chaos. Fill me with Your peace, Your strength, and Your grace today.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
Reflection Questions:
When was the last time you prayed honestly, without filtering your words?
What’s one area of your life you need to surrender to God today?
How can you make space for rest — even if it’s just five minutes — this week?
A Gentle Reminder:
You don’t have to be a perfect mom to be a good mom. And you don’t have to have it all together to be held by a God who does.
